If You Knew My Father…

I will simply call you Ahmadinejad because it is difficult for me to refer to you as sir, a person of respect and honor. I am writing this to introduce my father and also the person who has arrested him.

I must first tell you that my father is a revolutionary man. It is because of his labor that the Pahlavi regime was eventually brought to its end. Then came a time when he dedicated his life to the revolution.

Do you know that my uncle died a patriot for his country during the 8-year Iran-Iraq war? He was a true shahid (martyr). It was the combination of my father’s efforts and those of his friends’ that saved our country from occupation and invasion, and prevented Iran from slipping into the hands of others. They risked their lives in the name of God (Allah) and the commands of Ayatollah Khomeini so our country would not crumble. None of them thought for a moment that what we are witnessing today would be the future of our great nation, and that such events would be committed by people who have no respect for them or their struggle.

Do you know that during the 1979 revolution my father faced the guns with  his pen and sent messages to parts of our nation which did not know about the revolution? Despite his absence from the current revolution, his message can be heard by the souls of my generation, the children of the Islamic revolution.

Do you know that my father was the manager of the Islamic Republic News Agency at the United Nations?

Do you know that my father was the director of the Local Press Division at the Ministry of Culture?

I wish you knew my father so that you could learn the virtues of honesty, sacrifice and the ability to lead. My father is defending the purity of Islam while you are selfishly defending yourself, not your true religion.

For many years my father has tried to save the voting system of our republic. He wanted the world to know that in Iran the vote of a person equated with an angel in Heavens. Those who reject the voices from Heaven should be removed from our paradise on earth. My father wanted democracy in Iran, whereas you and your cohorts sacrifice your flesh and blood for your personal worldly interests.

Now after many years of your rule we have finally seen your true soul, your true face. It is not of light but of lies and oppression. I know that when you look into the mirror and see yourself, your own reflection flees from your soul.

Censorship and suppression will not hide the truth from the world and the people of Iran. They know you as a man who has betrayed his own people and a man who has arrested revolutionaries like Abtahi, Tajzadeh, Mirdamadi and countless others. You should know that you enjoy no respect among the people of Iran and the world.

Ahmadinejad, you should know that history will make its final judgment on you and my father based on their respected actions in this world.
