As pressure mounts on student activists, two members of Mehdi Karoubi’s university campaign committee were arrested and the fates of two Kurdish students remain unknown. Meanwhile, the intelligence apparatus’ scenario against Daftar Tahkim Vahdat (Office to Strengthen Unity) was defeated.
While on Tuesday, the Fars news agency reported that Morteza Simiari had resigned from membership in Daftar Tahkim Vahdat, one of the student organization’s members denied the report and announced that Mehdi Simiari will deny the news agency’s report shortly.
Responding to an email allegedly sent form Morteza Simiari’s email account, Ali Gholizadeh said that Simiari’s family has been under extreme pressure in recent days, so much so that the student activist’s mother has been hospitalized a number of times.
He also told Daneshjoo news that Morteza Simiari was made aware of the publication of his fraudulent resignation letter on Fars and has denied the matter in speaking to his friends and said that he “will prepare a written denial for publication on the Fars website and provide it to Fars in the coming days in accordance with the law.”
He added, “Morteza’s email account has been hacked since his arrest and is controlled by unknown people, who sent the fraudulent resignation email.”
Gholizadeh said that Simiari was suffering from physical ailments because of the pressure imposed on him and his family by security agents. He added, “During the arrest and after his release many physical and psychological pressures were imposed on Mr. Simiari, and the pressures have increased in recent days. Because of these pressures, and especially after the publication of the fraudulent resignation letter by state-run media, Mr. Simiari has begun suffering from serious physical and psychological ailments, such that he has been hospitalized twice just in the past two days.”
Similarly, Daftar Tahkim Vahdat’s political deputy, Abbas Hakimzadeh, denied a report by the Fars news agency that he had resigned from the student organization.
As such, and after Morteza Simiari and Abbas Hakimzadeh’s denials, the Fars news agency and intelligence apparatus’ project to dissolve and destroy Daftar Tahkim Vahdat was defeated.
