Government Supported by Hidden Imam
Iranian President Makes Bold New Claim: - 2008.02.17

In a gathering to commemorate the anniversary of the 1979 Islamic Revolution, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad blasted government critics and claimed that his administration is supported by the Hidden Imam.
In his speech, Ahmadinejad accused his domestic critics of aiding foreign enemies, noting his administration's remarkable achievements in various fields since taking office in 2005, despite efforts by some "to destroy the administration from the very beginning."
Ahmadinejad also accused his domestic critics of telling an unidentified European ambassador that Ahmadinejad's views are not supported by many within the Iranian establishment, adding, "lately, the ambassador of that European nation is going here and there attempting to influence politicians. Unfortunately, he has succeeded in manipulating some of then, just as in the nuclear case some have been manipulated to join the enemies of Iran."
Ahmadinejad did not clarify to which ambassador or which European nation he was referring. However, during his speech, he once again attacked Hossein Mousavian and the former team of nuclear negotiators led by Rafsanjani's close ally Hassan Rowhani.
Without recalling specific names, or referring directly to Hashemi Rafsanjani or Hassan Rowhani's backing of Hossein Mousavian, Ahmadinejad said, "A certain political figure who has heavy charges in his own case is trying to avoid justice with the help of the press."
In another part of his speech, Ahmadinejad claimed that his government is supported by the Hidden Imam, the holy 12th Imam revered by Shi'ites around the world who await his return from occultation and the reign of justice.
After thanking the Hidden Imam for his support, Ahmadinejad blasted Western governments for "creating obstacles" to impede Iran's nuclear progress.
