They Want to Kill me
Prisoner Mahmud Salehi Tells his Wife: - 2008.01.26

Mahmud Salehi is a worker activists spending time in prison. On his last meeting with his wife, he told her that he was concerned about his life and well being. “There is a plot to kill me at the hospital”, he said.
Salehi was recently transferred to Tohid hospital in the Kurdish town of Sanandaj because of a heart ailment. The public prosecutor of Kurdistan has conditioned Salehi’s release to a certification by the medical coroner about the prisoner’s health. In a letter to public prosecutor’s office, the coroner had said, “Even though the prisoner’s kidney has only a 10 percent working condition and he suffers from a heart ailment, he can still complete his prison term.”
Salehi has already spent a total of 8 years in prison for engaging in syndicate activities. But despite this and his deteriorating medical condition, he is kept behind bars. He was recently given a sentence of 1 year prison sentence, plus another 3 years of suspended sentence. His sentence also includes provisions through which he is barred from participating in any official or non-official meeting, from communicating with any media or a person outside Iran, and using the Internet.
