Detained labor activist Mahmoud Salehi was transferred to hospital from Sanandaj's Towhid prison after losing both kidneys, while the attorney for Ebrahim Maddadi, a colleague of Salehi, announced that his client was acquitted of all charges and will be released within the next few days.

Mahmoud Salehi is a labor activist from the town of Saghez, who is completing a one-year prison sentence in Sanandaj. After losing both kidneys and fainting in prison last week, Salehi was transferred to a hospital.
This labor activist, who had lost one kidney prior to his arrest, lost his other kidney while in detention. He was admitted to the prison clinic multiple times.
The family of this detained activist has asked judiciary's officials numerous times to allow him to seek treatment outside prison, only to be denied. Now Salehi is facing possible death if he does not receive a kidney transplant soon.
Mahmoud Salehi's criminal sentence ends in 3 months, after which he will be on probation for 5 years.
On the other hand, another labor activist, Ebrahim Maddadi, was acquitted of "acting against national security" for demonstrating in front of Mansour Osanlu's house and is set to be released from prison in the coming days.
According to Ebrahim Madadi's attorney, Parviz Khorshid, the ruling in his case was faxed to the prison on Wednesday, but he has not been released yet due to a complaint filed against him by a government employee.
According to Khorshid, his client will be released this week.
